Editors: Are You Asking Your Authors The Right Marketing Questions?
This is one of The Business Book Ghostwriters’ GhostBulletins. We send them out when we have an idea or thought to share. If you would like to receive these interesting but irregular messages, please send us a comment below.
We all ask authors to define their target audience, but their answers often lack detail. At BBG, we use the following questions to get authors focused:
* What keeps your intended reader awake at night? Why?
* How will your thought leadership or unique selling proposition (USP) prompt the reader to buy your book? Why?
* What’s the reader’s demographic profile? CEO? Consultant? Secure or insecure? Young, ambitious go-getter?
Authors who can clearly define their readership are much better prepared to help publishers market books.
Quotes on Writing: “If you can’t explain something simply, you don’t understand it yourself.” — Albert Einstein.
Thanks, Al. This will surely help authors find their own unified field theory.
